DIGSUM has been successful in getting funding within the JPI-MYBL Joint Transnational Call for proposals 2017 for "Ageing and Place in a Digitising World”. The programme, headed by professor Simon Lindgren, goes under the acronym of HARVEST (eHealth and Ageing in Rural Areas: Transforming Everyday Life, Digital Competences, and Technology).

On May 30th, we hosted the first DIGSUM-day, a one-day conference aiming to promote networking and the exchange of knowledge among DIGSUM's research groups. We plan this to be an annually recurring event, and we encourage you to mark off May 17th 2018 in your calendars!
DIGSUM welcomes you to a research seminar about exposure to online hate among teenagers and young adults on February 16 at 13:15 in S-507 (Samvetet).
Two of DIGSUM’s research groups – Learning and ICT (LICT) at the Department of Education, and Digital Didactic Design (DDD) at Applied Educational Sciences – have been granted funds, starting 2017, of 4.5 million SEK from Umeå School of Education.
The first DIGSUM seminar will take place in Samvetet from 13:15 on Thursday 26th January. Anne Kaun (Södertörn University) will talk to the title 'Data Times: The Temporalities of Digital Media'.
Members of DIGSUM's research group LICT are organising the open conference "Professional Development and Networked Learning" – jointly with KTH, Mid-Sweden University and Aalborg University – in Aalborg on April 6, 2017.
The Grand Opening of DIGSUM was held on December 15 when the unit was inaugurated by pro-vice-chancellor Katrin Riklund. We wish to warmly thank all of you who attended!
Last week, 25th and 26th October 2016, Simon Lindgren and Sam Merrill of DIGSUM’s digital sociology cluster attended a workshop at the University of Amsterdam dedicated to exploring the issue of materiality in the context of social movements’ use of digital media.
